About the rules

The Rules of Development were born from a set of notes I collected to set up development teams. Initially they were a small document with instructions about how to do the development, organization, workflows, tools to use, etc.

I soon realised I had learnt much more than just the practicalities of smooth and successful project delivery, and I wanted to share that experience as well. I shared it with the teams I led, but I also started presenting it at various events, where it was very well received. Conversations following these presentations led to the idea of sharing these rules, acquired through experience, with a broader audience and making them available for everyone. So this site was born.

Many of these rules are my own findings, some are insights from others that I’ve personally verified, and some are well-known principles I’ve observed to hold true. Together, they form my collected advice for developers, managers, and leaders, with a touch of general wisdom for life beyond the keyboard. The ideas are presented briefly, with many linking to more in-depth explanations, either on my personal blog or through external sources.

The experience I’ve gained over my professional career is vast, so the site will continue to grow and evolve with regular updates.

About me

I am an Aeronautical Engineer who transitioned to the digital industry 17 years ago after working in the aerospace sector for 10 years.

Throughout my career in both industries, I’ve held various positions and gained broad experience across many areas of both fields. While I have my areas of expertise, I am also effective in many other roles.
